Give Your Heart to God: A Call to True Worship

My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways. (Proverbs 23:26)

Welcome, friends! I’m so glad you’re here today. Today, I feel a deep urge to share a powerful message that has been resonating in my heart.

In my spiritual journey, I often revisit the messages I’ve received from the Spirit of God, as recorded in my journals —those sacred pages filled with messages from the Spirit of God. Going through them helps me envision my purpose and evaluate where I stand in my walk with God. In the Book of Habakkuk, we’re reminded of the importance of writing down what God reveals to us.

In Habakkuk 2:2-3, God says to the prophet:
“Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance. Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.”

Recently, while perusing my journal, one specific message stood out to me, a message I had overlooked before. I read it repeatedly. Surprised to have trampled over such a treasure trove. It was like uncovering a hidden treasure. Has this message always been here, I asked myself? I felt compelled to share it with you today.

This message was recorded on 22nd May 2016, and it struck me in a way I hadn’t expected. Here’s what it said:

“Your worth in God’s eyes is not proven by money, but by your devotion to Him. Never use money as a means to demonstrate God’s love for you. God, the Creator of the earth, is aware of our needs. Our worthiness is not proven by our financial contributions. We prove it by seeking Him as our Saviour and allowing Him to deem us worthy.

Do not mistake monetary donations to the church as a testament of your love for Jesus. They often reflect proudness (a sense of satisfaction derived from someone or something outside oneself). Remember, your monetary contributions are not of primary importance. God doesn’t need your hard-earned money; He seeks your heart and affection. Money is His creation, and He possesses it in abundance. Embrace His Word in your heart and refrain from excessive monetary donations, as it doesn’t please God. God desires your heart in the ministry, not your money. He needs your soul.

Take His Word seriously! Offer your heart to Him, not your money. He has plenty of it.”

Reading those words, I was convicted. I was reminded of something so essential. God isn’t after our wealth, our material possessions, or our ability to give generously. He desires our hearts. And when we offer Him our hearts, we truly show our love and commitment to Him.

As it’s written in Job 11:13-19 (CEV)

“Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer, and give up your sins—even those you do in secret. Then you won't be ashamed; you will be confident and fearless. Your troubles will go away like water beneath a bridge, and your darkest night will be brighter than noon. You will rest safe and secure, filled with hope and emptied of worry. You will sleep without fear and be greatly respected.”

No gift is acceptable to God until we have given Him our hearts. I don’t know what you may be praying about. I believe the Spirit of God is urging me to tell you today: give Him your heart. Surrender everything to Him. Let go of what holds you back—whether it’s your pride, your fear, or even your wealth. Offer Him the one thing He desires most: your heart.

Listen to His Word and bury it in your heart because God’s Word carries incredible power. It transforms us. As Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Let His Word dwell richly within you. You will experience the peace and confidence that only He can provide.

Key Points
  • True worship is about giving your heart to God, not material possessions.
  • Reflect on the messages from the Spirit of God and let them guide your spiritual journey.
  • Embrace God’s Word in your heart for transformation and peace.
  • Surrender your heart to God and experience the confidence and fearlessness that comes with it.

So, friends, let’s stop focusing on what we can give and start focusing on who we are giving it to. God values our hearts and devotion more than monetary contributions. He urges readers to surrender their hearts to Him. Treasure His Word in your hearts.

Will you surrender yours to Him today?
